Ok, so I might not be the fastest crafter out there, but I do finish things that I start. So, my husband spent the week before New Year's building a baby doll bed for our daughter's American Girl doll (because I refuse to spend mucho $$ on the AG brand) and he did a wonderful job building and painting it. You will just have to excuse the large stuffed animal and shoes in the background. What can I say, we are a real family and my house isn't always picture perfect! :)
I then proceeded to find some fabric that I used in my daughter's curtains and made a mattress for the bed.
Last but not least I finally made the baby doll quilt last night (very late last night), but none the less, last Friday. I had a small charm pack from Hobby Lobby and I cut them in half (so 2 1/2 inch squares and made a simple patch quilt. I then sashed it with some left over fabrics I had used on my mother in law's quilt, and I had a 1/4 of the backing fabric, which I had to piece together on the back to finish the backing. I did an all over free motion quilt design to quilt it. I used scraps for the binding, which was the first time I have done that and I think I like it. It's hard to tell in the photos, but the little quilt is pink and browns.
All in all, I would say the project was a success since my daughter loved it! I gave it to her as an early Valentine's Day gift! I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day as well. (Note: The plans for the bed and mattress were from Ana White's website. She has wonderful designs on there. Ana White)
